I liked Maverix as an up-and-coming gold and silver royalty play that, unlike most of its peers, had the enviable characteristic of being profitable. It's now been taken over by Truple Flag, which I don't see as a bad royalty company, but one much larger than I wanted to own (less "hockey-stick" potential). I still like the assets and have clients not to see this as a hard sell, but as a portfolio clean-up on my part. Unfortunately for me (and happily for Triple Flag shareholders), this happened at a time of unreasonably bearish market sentiment, so I got out with only a very modest gain. That's better than losing money, but I don't count it as much of a win.
